Tui Na | Oriental massage

The term Tui Na in Chinese means ‘push’ (Tui) and ‘grasp’ (Na). It is a hands-on-body treatment using acupressure as a method to bring the body into balance. The hands of the massage practitioner follow the flow of Qi (vital energy), which is channelled through an intricate system of meridians - the energy pathways of the body. According to Chinese medicine the meridians supply Qi to organs, body tissues and fluids. The practitioner may brush, knead, roll, press and rub the areas between each of the joints to get the energy moving in both the meridians and the muscles. By stimulating the acupressure points the Qi will be rebalanced and both acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions, can be treated. Tui Na is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is taught in TCM schools as part of the formal training in Oriental medicine.
