Stress is an ever present part of our daily life and while this in itself is not necessarily a great problem, the way that we cope with it can be. Some people have a harder time in expressing their emotions and struggles, consequently finding the pressures of a stressful lifestyle overwhelming.  Stress can show up in various ways such as insomnia, anxiety, irritability, inability to concentrate or even a loss of interest and enthusiasm. Acupuncture may support the symptoms of such pressures by bringing back balance into our lives. 

In Oriental medicine, there is no separation between the body, mind and spirit. That which affects one area of our health and life is believed to affect all others. Our modern lifestyle is filled with a variety of stressors and these will invariably have some impact on our physical, mental and emotional health. Acupuncture may support the symptoms of such stressors by bringing balance back into our lives. 

When there are more deep-seated mental health issues acupuncture and Oriental medicine may be used as a supportive therapy in conjunction with other treatment modalities (Chan et al., 2015) to help achieve more balance. According to Bosch et al., (2015) there is positive evidence that acupuncture is effective and safe for major depressive disorders, especially in helping to improve sleep, mood and quality of life.
